The Pixel 4’s more minor details are starting to drip out, and one of the more large droplets of detail juice surrounds the device’s charging capabilities. With the Pixel 3, Google enabled fast wireless charging thanks to its proprietary Pixel Stand wireless charger. This method achieved 10W speeds. With the Pixel 4, on the other hand, you can get 11W fast wireless charging. The best part? There’s nothing proprietary about it.
As spotted by Mishaal Rahman on Twitter and later 9to5Google, the Pixel 4 can achieve 11W wireless charging speeds with any compatible wireless charging pad. Most third-party solutions with an EPP certification should provide the faster speed.
Any time a manufacturer includes faster charging, I’m here for it. As soon as I get my hands on a Pixel 4 unit, I’m sure I’ll enjoy conveniently docking the device on my charging stand at work while it juices back up at much more impressive speeds.
