OnePlus released five phones this year: the 7, 7 Pro, 7T, 7T Pro,, and 7T Pro McLaren Edition. That’s a lot of phones, and it doesn’t look like the company will be slowing down any time soon. The company’s rumored 2020 flagship, the OnePlus 8 Pro, just leaked in new renders, and they exclude one major design feature that was prominent in their 2019 device lineup.
The renders come courtesy of 91Mobiles and OnLeaks who have been known to accurately leak not just OnePlus phones, but devices from other manufacturers as well with stunning accuracy. This new batch of renders claims to give us our first look at the OnePlus 8 Pro.
The device includes a large display, extremely slim bezels, a typical camera layout with an added fourth lens, and a very similar form factor to this year’s 7 Pro. You’ll also notice at the top-left on the front of the device, there’s a hole-punch selfie camera. This means to achieve a nearly bezel-less display, OnePlus won’t be opting for a pop-up selfie camera.
Also different from this year’s OnePlus phones is the display itself. According to 91Mobiles, the OnePlus 8 Pro will go with a 6.65-inch panel, two-hundredths of an inch less than the 7 Pro. Of course, it’ll likely still include a 90Hz refresh rate and an aspect ratio around 19:9 or 20:9.
Other than these details, it’s hard to say what the OnePlus 8 family will sport spec-wise. We don’t know whether OnePlus will make any major upgrades to its camera system, and we don’t know how big the batteries will be. Granted, it’s pretty easy to say the phones will ship with Snapdragon 865 processors, likely up to 12GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage. But besides these predictions, there’s not really any info out there just yet regarding the spec sheets for the new phones.
That being said, let the renders sit and cook a while. We have another six to seven months before we see the OnePlus 8/Pro officially, and in that time, anything could happen. Stay tuned for more details, as I’m sure we’ll be hearing much more in the near future.
