Apple Updates MacBook Air with True Tone Display, Drops Price to $1,099

Apple today announced an updated version of its latest-gen MacBook Air that adds True Tone to the display. The laptop was originally unveiled back in October without True tone onboard, Now, depending on lighting conditions in your environment, the Air can automatically adjust its color profile for the best viewing experience.

The company’s also dropping the price of the laptop. Whereas the new MacBook Air was originally $1,199, Apple has lowered the barrier to entry to $1,099. If you’re a college student, you can get one for just $999. That $999 price point used to belong to the older MacBook Air which, today, was discontinued.

Besides the new True Tone display, the MacBook Air remains pretty much the same. You still get 8th-gen processors, 128GB of baseline storage, a couple of USB-C ports, and Touch ID. The newer model of the Air is available starting today online, in Apple stores, and authorized Apple retailers.
