Potentially making your commute more pleasant.

Google has announced a new update for the Assistant that should make your commute around New York City easier. The company is adding the ability to track subway trains thanks to information provided by the MTA. You’ll be able to ask the Assistant things like “When is the next 4 train arriving?” and it’ll respond with an ETA. You can also track a train’s progress in real time and get walking directions to a certain station.

The announcement comes on the heels of Google’s rollout of Google Pay for transit lines. Starting May 31st, the MTA will allow you to pay per ride with your phone thanks to Google Pay and show you which routes to take if you want to keep paying with your device. The same will go for iPhone users who use Apple Pay. Overall, getting around New York should become more pleasant with these features. That is, if they work properly.
