Google today announced two new updates for its Calendar and Keep apps on Android. The updates brings new dark mode themes to each application, giving users a much more pleasant UI to stare at in dark environments. It’s also better for devices with OLED screens since darker pixels equal longer battery life. Both modes can be enabled in each app’s settings menu.
According to Google, both Calendar and Keep users can expect to see the dark mode update within the next 15 days. Users on Android 5.0-9.0 will need to manually turn it on, while those using the Android Q beta can have it automatically turn on by using the system dark mode.
