OnePlus 7 Pro Will Finally Have a Better Vibration Motor

OnePlus makes great phones, but one thing that’s bothered users for years is the company’s choice of vibration motor. It’s buzzy, it’s unimpressive, it’s weak, and it makes the phone feel way cheaper than it is. That all looks to change with the OnePlus 7 Pro, as OnePlus has confirmed to CNET that the device will offer a much more appealing haptic motor.

Speaking to CNET, OnePlus founder and CEO Pete Lau said how his company is always listening to feedback. “We are constantly listening to feedback from the community on what features and characteristics they would like to see implemented on OnePlus phones. Their feedback helps us focus on certain features.” Considering there’s been so much complaining in recent history of the vibration motor inside its phones, it’s no wonder OnePlus is finally implementing a fix.

This won’t come easy, however. Lau said the OnePlus team “had to rethink the internal design of the OnePlus 7 Pro, to fit inside the body without increasing the thickness of the device, which could lead to a less ergonomic feel.” Lau also wanted vibrations to feel strong yet even across the device. It seems like they’ve achieved this, but we’ll have to try it hands-on to know for sure.

In addition to the confirmation of a better haptic motor, Lau said users would be able to adjust it using three different settings: light, medium, and strong. You’ll also be able to adjust the haptic feedback from the keyboard.

We’ll be live from the event on Tuesday so I’ll be sure to let you know if anything of this vibration talk is real.
