T-Mobile has announced that it will be the exclusive carrier of the upcoming OnePlus 7 Pro smartphone. Much like it was for the 6T last year, the Uncarrier will serve as the only U.S. carrier you can purchase the phone through.
Whether this is a good thing has yet to be determined. The OnePlus 6T was met by plenty of fan fair and sold for a really affordable price. That’s probably why it sold so well on T-Mobile’s network. But with the OnePlus 7 Pro, the price is expected to jump to something that’s more in line with traditional flagships. What’s more, the company will be taking a radical approach with the 7 Pro with a motorized selfie camera, bezel-less screen, three rear cameras, and more. The fan fair will probably be there, but only time will tell if OnePlus actually has another hit on its hands.
If you already know you want to buy the OnePlus 7 Pro, T-Mobile says you’ll be able to during its pop-up event in New York City at its Signature Store in Times Square. Held from 2 p.m. ET to 10 p.m. ET, the event will be held on May 14th, the same day the phone will be unveiled. Pop-up events in Chicago, Las Vegas, Miami, San Francisco, and Santa Monica will be held the day after. On May 17th, the phone will go on sale at all T-Mobile stores.
Notably, T-Mobile doesn’t make mention of the baseline OnePlus 7 in its announcement. Because of this, it’s assumed the carrier won’t be selling the phone which doesn’t make a ton of sense. I guess OnePlus won’t be pushing that device as hard as it will the Pro. I mean, the Pro is definitely the more interesting device, but the standard 7 could be a solid offering if the rumors are true.
Regardless of how OnePlus positions its next phones, we’ll be live at the event covering all the announcements and bringing you coverage all day Tuesday. Stay tuned, folks. This should be a fun one.
