Instagram Will Launch a New ‘Create Mode’ and Expand Shopping Tags

Today during F8, Facebook announced some new features that will roll out to Instagram soon.

For starters, Instagram will be adopting a new camera interface that will feature a new “Create Mode.” Essentially, the mode will use various creative tools, effects, and stickers to help you drop the requirement of creating a photo or video before posting it to your Story. Those popular on Instagram Stories often are forced to craft images and clips before posting them due to content creation restraints within the app, but the company looks to solve this with this forthcoming update.

Next up, Facebook says it will be expanding the availability of shopping tags to more creators and influencers on Instagram. Any influencer, celebrity, or artist on Instagram will be able to tag items in photos and videos and let their followers buy them directly from the Instagram app. The feature will use Instagram’s new checkout feature. Both functions are still in testing, but they should roll out to the public in the future.

Finally, Instagram says it will also introduce a new Donation sticker for Stories that will let creators select a charity of their choice and have their followers donate to it directly inside the app. All proceeds will go directly to the charity of your choosing. In other words, Instagram won’t be taking any percentage of your donation as a fee.

It isn’t exactly clear when Instagram plans to release these features, but we’ll update this article once they go live.
