It'll roll out later this year.

Alongside the announcements of a redesigned, restructured interface, Facebook today announced that Messenger would soon arrive on Windows and Mac as a dedicated app. Right now, there’s an app for Windows 10 available through the Microsoft Store, but it hasn’t been updated all that much and it’s stale by today’s standards.

The new app will adopt Messenger’s new user interface that Facebook will introduce later this year on iOS. It looks like the love child of Skype and iMessage, in my opinion. Unfortunately, we don’t have much information on it right now, but we do know it’ll roll out later this year.
