It's a spin-off of an existing feature, but it's welcome nonetheless.

As spotted by SamMobile, Samsung has begun rolling out an update to the Galaxy S10 that adds a dedicated night mode to the camera app. One user in Switzerland has received the update on their S10. It isn’t clear if this is a widespread rollout or something that will take its time making its way around the world.

The new night mode on the Galaxy S10 isn’t exactly new. Samsung has a Bright Night mode that automatically kicks in when the scene in front of you is took dark for the normal mode to take a decent photo. Now, instead of waiting for the mode to activate automatically, you can enable it manually. Mind you, during my experience, Bright Night didn’t make a huge difference in the quality of nighttime photographs, but at least it’ll do something to improve the scenes you capture.

We’ll let you know when the feature begins rolling out more broadly.
