OnePlus is expected to unveil a series of three phones on May 14th, and today, we’re getting more information about one model in particular, the ONePlus 7 Pro. According to leaker Ishan Agarwal via Android Central, the 7 Pro will offer the very first Quad HD+ Super AMOLED display on a OnePlus phone with a refresh rate of 90Hz.
If you aren’t familiar with refresh rates, it’s essentially the rate at which a screen refreshes itself to keep displaying new content. Most phones have a refresh rate of 60Hz, meaning the screen refreshes itself 60 times every second. With a 90Hz refresh rate, it’ll refresh 90 times a second. This results in a much smoother-appearing display that’s more pleasing to look at. Phones have had refresh rates up to 120Hz in the past (the Razer Phone is a prime example), but while playing things conservatively, no manufacturer has released a phone at 90Hz. It looks like OnePlus will be taking that crown.
Elsewhere, the OnePlus 7 Pro will also come with a Quad HD+ panel. Traditionally, OnePlus has stuck with Full HD and Full HD+ on its smartphones to preserve battery life and performance. Now, the company will be stepping up to a sharper resolution commonly found on pricier Android phones. It’s unclear if the company can retain its well-known battery life and performance with such a panel, however, but we’ll see what happens.
In addition, today’s list of rumors points to three rear cameras (one main, one telephoto, one wide-angle), a 4,000mAh battery, and 30W Warp Charging.
