Toward the end of last month, Samsung finally took the wraps off its highly anticipated foldable smartphone, the Galaxy Fold. The device will go on sale this April for $1,980, but it doesn’t look like buyers will be limited to this single offering from the Korean company. Because as it turns out, Samsung is working on two more
According to a report out of Bloomberg, Samsung is gearing up to introduce two new foldable phones by early 2020. The report mentions a device with an outward-implemented screen like the Huawei Mate X and a clamshell style phone, similar to the rumored Motorola RAZR foldable. The latter will offer a smaller screen on its exterior, making it even more similar to the classic RAZR.
With all this hype surrounding foldable phones and those that have yet to be introduced, it’s important to note that companies are still trying to figure out foldables. That’s why Samsung will have three different foldables by early 2020 in order to see which one responds best with the public. Then there’s the fact that no one has really used these devices yet, so market demand is a complete mystery. Time will tell whether foldables are here to stay, and it doesn’t look like Samsung will be wasting any time getting its ambitions to the market.
Bloomberg notes that these phones might debut later this year, so be sure to stay tuned for future developments.
