As you can see, the device looks exactly like the V40 ThinQ from last year but with a “V50 ThinQ” logo on the back and some weird 5G icon at the top. Also, oh my God, that 5G logo better not be on the actual device. It looks horrible.
In the render, we see a triple camera system, a rear-mounted fingerprint reader, volume keys, a power button, a Google Assistant button, dual selfie cameras, and a 6.4-inch display. Clearly, the V50 will be a very minor upgrade over the V40. Differences will include 5G compatibility, a Snapdragon 855, a 4,000mAh battery, and a vapor cooling chamber system.
As far as we can tell, it looks like Sprint will be the only one carrying the V50. However, there’s a chance other carriers such as Verizon and AT&T will get the phone in the future. Because if you want a phone to actually sell a couple of units, launching it exclusively on Sprint isn’t the way to do it.
LG will unveil both the V50 and G8 on February 24th.
