You may soon be able to visit instagram.com on your desktop or, yes, your iPad to text someone.

App researcher Jane Manchun Wong, along with TechCrunch, has discovered that Instagram is currently testing the ability to send Direct messages to other users through its web interface. This means at some point in the future, you won’t have to rely on the iOS or Android Instagram app to message your friends. Instead, you’ll be able to visit instagram.com on your desktop or, yes, even your iPad to text someone.

So far, the feature is extremely limited to a select few users. In fact, it might even be disabled as a whole for the time being. Of course, if it pops up again, we’ll let you know.
