Newton Mail App is Back from the Dead

Last summer, CloudMagic killed off its popular email client Newton Mail. The strange part about the whole thing was that the app never actually stopped working, but it did stop receiving updates. Nonetheless, the app was deprecating before our very eyes, and it was a shame. Newton’s one of the best email apps on mobile, and since its departure, I’ve struggled trying to find a good replacement.

Luckily, I have to struggle no more. As it turns out, Newton Mail is back from the dead. The app has made its way back to the App Store, Google Play, and the Microsoft Store for iOS, Android, and Windows 10. An update for the app for existing users has the following release notes attached to it.

We are thrilled to be back. If you still have your Newton account, just log in using your Newton username and password.

Interestingly, the app has lowered its annual subscription fee from $99 to $49. This obviously makes the app much more appealing to users, but it’s unclear why it decreased its prices. Maybe Essential’s acquisition of CloudMagic has something to do with it.

Regardless of the technicalities are, I’m just glad Newton is back up and running. It’s by far my favorite email client, and it was depressing to see it go. Now, even more users get to join in on the fun.
