Today, Lenovo unveiled its newest flagship smartphone that, while won’t be coming to the United States, should go over pretty well in regions where it’s sold. Called the Z5 Pro GT, the device has some of the best specs you can get in a phone today and should reflect those of other insane high-end Android devices we’ll see throughout 2019.
According to Lenovo, the Z5 Pro GT comes with a Snapdragon 855 under the hood coupled with up to 12GB of RAM. Yep, the former seems pretty normal since this will be a Lenovo flagship destined for 2019, but the latter seems absolutely crazy and total overkill. It’s an extra 2GB more than what the OnePlus 6T McLaren edition comes with, and that was crazy in itself.
Obviously, there’s no real point to having 12GB of RAM since Android can run just fine with 4GB. But since there is 12GB onboard, Lenovo and whoever buys the phone get some pretty cool bragging rights.
The rest of the Z5 Pro GT’s specs can be found below.
- 6.4-inch AMOLED 2340×1080 19.5:9 display
- In-display fingerprint reader
- Adreno 640 GPU
- Dual cameras, with 16MP main sensor and 24MP secondary sensor
- Mechanical slider dual selfie cameras, with main 16MP lens and 8MP secondary lens
- 512GB storage
- 3,350mAh battery
The Z5 Pro GT will go up for pre-order in China on January 15th starting at $390. That gets you a 6GB RAM model with 128GB of storage. The top-tier 512GB storage/12GB RAM variant will run you $640 which isn’t bad at all for a phone with so much random access memory.
