A Budget Google Pixel 3 with a Headphone Jack Just Leaked Out in New Images

Google’s been rumored to be working on a budget phone for more than a year at this point. But so far, nothing official has resulted from those whispers. Notice how I said “official” and didn’t just leave it at “nothing.”

Unexpectedly today, new images have surfaced via Russian website Rozetked.me of what appears to be a budget version of the Pixel 3 smartphone. The device displayed has a similar design to the standard Pixel 3 but with larger bezels surrounding the screen. Otherwise, the builds appear to be practically the same.

The report also mentions specs, including a 5.56-inch Full HD+ LCD display, a Snapdragon 670 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 32GB of storage. It also appears there’s a headphone jack on the top of the phone, something missing from both the Pixel 3 and Pixel 2 from last year. There also appears to be just two cameras this time around, with one on the front and one on the back. Stereo speakers, USB-C, a fingerprint scanner, and a 2,915mAh battery are also apparently onboard.

Interestingly, reports also point to this mid-range Pixel 3 as having the same camera technology as the flagship Pixel 3 and 3 XL. That means you get the same image quality and night time photography methods as the more expensive alternatives. And considering this phone is rumored to be priced around $500 or so, that could mean this device will be a huge steal for those on a budget who care about image quality.

Considering there’s a “C” on the back of this so-called Pixel 3 Lite instead of a “G,” we can guarantee this device isn’t intended for the market just yet. In other words, Google is likely still developing it. However, after Rick Osterloh said in the past the Pixel brand would stick with high-end devices, we never thought twice that Google might be working on a budget device in secret. Now, it looks like we may have this entire thing wrong and the company will release a cheaper Pixel at some point in the future.

Nothing’s been made official just yet regarding a cheaper Pixel, but if Google makes any announcements, we’ll be sure to let you know.
