Today during an event, Apple today introduced redesigned iPad Pros with larger screens, slimmer bezels, and new features. The tablets now fall better in line design-wise with Apple’s iPhone XS and XS Max and ship with new features that should make the devices far more productive.

The new iPad Pro comes in two sizes: an 11-inch and a 12.9-inch. The screens nearly reach the edges of the body thanks to the significantly slimmer bezels. Apple calls the screens “Liquid Retina.” That’s to say they use the same tech the iPhone XR’s screen uses, plus ProMotion since it’s an iPad.

The bodies of the new iPad Pros are just 5.9mm thin, while the 12.9-inch model takes up 25 percent less volume than the previous model.

With the new iPad Pros, Apple is replacing Touch ID with Face ID built right into the top bezel of the tablet. It works in both landscape and portrait mode. And because there’s no Home button, Apple is using the same navigation gesture system as the iPhone X, requiring you to swipe all over the screen to navigate the UI.

Under the hood, Apple uses its new A12X Bionic processor built on a 7nm process. It features 10 billion transistors which means you’ll be able to process more data much quicker. There are eight cores onboard, with four performance cores and four efficiency cores. Multi-core workloads with the new chip will be up to 90 percent faster than the previous Pro models.

For graphics, Apple is using its own seven-core chip that’s up to, according to Apple, 1000x faster than before. Yeah, we’ll see about that.

Apple also uses its neural engine for better performance during machine learning tasks.

For storage, Apple is including up to 1TB of storage with the new iPad Pros. They also come with USB-C ports, marking the first time the iPad didn’t come with an Apple’built proprietary connector. And thanks to USB-C, you can charge your iPhone from your iPad and even connect external devices such as additional monitors.

To accompany the new iPad Pros, Apple is also introducing the second-generation Apple Pencil which has received a redesign. It connects to the Pro using magnets and charges wirelessly. There are new sensors built into the Pencil that allow for new gestures and experiences within apps using taps and swipes directly on the Pencil.

Apple is also introducing a new Smart Keyboard Folio to accommodate the new designs of the tablets. It has two new angles for both lap-ability and desktop-ability.

In addition, the new iPad Pros come with stereo speakers, gigabit LTE, Bluetooth 5.0, a 12MP rear camera, a 7MP selfie camera, and a Smart Connector for connecting accessories.

Apple says the new iPad Pro starts at $799 and is available with 64, 256, or 512GB of storage. There’s also a 1TB option. Preorders are open today and the tablets will begin shipping on November 7th. The new Apple Pencil costs $129, $30 more than the previous version. In addition, the new Smart Keyboard for the 11-inch iPad Pro will cost $179 and the model for the 12.9-inch variant will run for $199.
