Report: Apple to Unveil New iPad Pros, MacBook Air Successor, Upgraded Mac Mini at Event on Tuesday

We’re less than 96 hours away from the day Apple will hold an event in New York to unveil upgraded hardware. Rumors have stated in the past that the company plans to upgrade its iPad and Mac lineup, but very few reports have been very credible. That changes today as Bloomberg has published a new report in which it details everything we can expect to see from the Cupertino company next Tuesday.

For starters, Bloomberg says Apple will announce new iPad Pro models. It’s said the new devices will opt for much slimmer bezels around the 11-inch and 12.9-inch screens. There also won’t be a home button; instead, the devices will use a gesture-based system for navigating iOS and Face ID for security. There’s also talks that the new iPads will drop the Lightning connector in favor of USB-C connectivity.

In addition, the new iPad Pros will stick with LCD panels instead of OLED, they’ll have squared-off sides, they’ll include a faster version of the A12 Bionic processor, they’ll pack an Apple-branded custom graphics card, and they’ll be compatible with a new version of the Apple Pencil.

Moving on, Bloomberg also says Apple will announce a new version of the MacBook Air. It isn’t known if the company will stick with that brand, but the laptop will, at the very least, succeed the current Air which has an outdated design and old specifications.

For this version, Apple is expected to refresh the design of the laptop at least to an extent. The new Air will also reportedly come with a much better 13-inch display that, admittedly, will likely be the most appreciated change among Mac owners. In addition, we expect to see 2018-grade specs under the hood such as 8th-generation Intel Core chipsets.

Finally, Bloomberg goes on to say the Mac Mini will also be getting an upgrade at next week’s event. Not too much is known in this regard, but we do expect upgraded specs and new features for pro users.

As some final tidbits, the report states we may also see refreshed versions of the iMac, iMac Pro, and 12-inch MacBook. However, it isn’t clear whether these new devices will be ready by next week.

Of course, we could also see some surprises during the event (I’m looking at you, AirPower) so be sure to stay tuned to Matridox for everything that’s announced during the keynote.
