After announcing the feature nearly six months ago, Google has finally begun rolling out dark mode to the YouTube app on Android. Users are reporting they’re beginning to see the feature hit their devices. We also got the feature on our HTC U12 Plus unit here in the office.
As you can see, the dark mode present in the YouTube app for Android is identical to the one that’s been present on the web and on iOS for months. It offers a darker appearance over the glaring white default UI with deep grays and other accents throughout the app. It’s definitely a nice look that is sure to grab the attention of dark mode lovers.
To enable dark mode, be sure to have updated to the latest version of YouTube for Android. From there, open the app, tap your profile picture in the top right-hand corner, select Settings, then General, and finally tick on the dark mode option.
