Alongside the new Swift 7 and Swift 5 15-inch, Acer has announced upgraded versions of its 14-inch Swift 5 and Swift 3 laptops at IFA 2018. While there are some design tweaks onboard, these refreshes mainly focus on what’s inside the machines.
For starters, the new 14-inch Swift 5 is getting the latest 8th-generation Intel Core processors, including the i5 and i7. The company also says users can expect up to eight hours of battery life on a single charge. The device still features a magnesium-infused design, a weight of 2.14 pounds, a width of 14.9mm, a Full HD IPS screen, slim bezels, 802.11ac Wi-Fi, a fingerprint reader, USB-C ports, and HDMI connectivity.
Meanwhile, the Swift 3 lineup is getting two new 13.3-inch and 14-inch models, both with displays surrounded by slimmer bezels than before. Under the hood, the laptops are also getting Intel’s 8th-gen chips such as the Core i5 and i7 along with up to 8GB of RAM, up to 512GB of storage, and up to 12 hours of battery life. There’s also an option for discrete Nvidia GeForce MX150 graphics. The devices also come with 802.11ac Wi-Fi support, optional 4G LTE connectivity, USBC connectivity, and a Full HD resolution.
According to Acer, the new Swift 5 14-inch will start at $999 and launch in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa in September. It’ll land in China in November. The Swift 3 13-inch starts at €799 and will land in the same territories besides China in October. Finally, the Swift 3 14-inch will start at $799.99 and launch in North America this November. It’ll also launch in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa next January.
