As spotted by users of the devices, Samsung has begun rolling out an update to the unlocked Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus that gives you access to the FM radio built into the devices. This means you’ll be able to use apps like NextRadio to stream FM radio using a wired pair of headphones which, luckily, work with both devices thanks to their headphone jacks.
The update also includes the June security patch for both phones. Unfortunately, this doesn’t happen often, so hopefully, Samsung will begin pushing out patches more often. Of course, I wouldn’t place any bets on the company actually doing it, but you never know.
To install the update on your unlocked S9 or S9 Plus, head over to the software updates section in your settings app. There, hit “check for updates” and you should see the new software ready to be installed. Tap “download and install” and let your phone do its thing. I would advise you to make sure you plug in your phone before starting this process so you don’t run out of juice during the installation and brick your phone.
