Google is expected to unveil the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL later this year (likely sometime in October), and today we’re getting our first glimpse at what the phones may feature display wise. According to a newly leaked image of screen protectors via Slashleaks, the formerly mentioned device will include slimmer bezels around its screen over the previous generation, while the latterly mentioned handset will come with even slimmer bezels and a notch at the top.

Yes, having slimmer bezels on the smaller Pixel 3 is a big deal, but as has been the case for nearly two years at this point, the XL model remains a hotter topic to discuss especially since rumors now point to its third iteration having a cut out at the top of its display. We’ve obviously seen this before with phones like the iPhone X, Essential Phone, LG G7, and Huawei P20 Pro, but we have yet to see Google make the design decision and it looks like it could happen this year.
A Pixel with a notch doesn’t exactly come as a surprise. Like I said, we’ve seen notches on Android phones all throughout 2018 and Google is even adding native notch support in the next version of its operating system. Therefore, a cut out at the top of a Pixel phone isn’t exactly a shocker.
As far as how big the screens are, we have yet to learn any specifics. However, considering last year’s Pixel 2 measured in at 5-inches while the 2 XL measured in at 6-inches, we can likely expect similar sizes this time around.
Also worth pointing out is the inclusion of a speaker grille in the bottom chin of both Pixels. This indicates the Pixel 3 and 3 XL will include stereo speakers much like last year’s models despite having slimmer borders.
We’re still around five months away from seeing the Pixel 3 and 3 XL from Google officially so things can change leading up to the fall. There’s also a strong possibility these screen protectors are fake and just mockups of what the new Pixels might feature. For now, it looks like it’s gonna be a long summer for Pixel fans.
