Apple is expected to unveil a trio of new iPhones later this year, with the cheapest option being a larger iPhone X with a 6.1-inch LCD display (notch and all). Not too much else is known about the device, but according to a new report out of Business Korea, we could have an idea of where Apple will be sourcing the display.

Citing supply-chain sources, Business Korea suggests Apple will use the same MLCD+ technology LG built for its latest flagship, the LG G7 ThinQ. With that type of display technology, you get richer colors and more brightness thanks to a white subpixel that sits alongside the normal red, blue, and green elements. By using MLCD+ on the iPhone, Apple might be able to achieve something that closely mimics the OLED display on the current iPhone X.

Of course, this report does come with some caution. Not only is it still too early to place any bets as to what the new iPhones will feature, the last notable time LG had a hand in another smartphone manufacturer’s display choice, the Google Pixel 2 XL’s OLED panel was deemed “trash” by a lot of buyers. Hopefully, things go smoother with the company’s LCD offerings.
