Essential has announced its upgrading its Essential Phone to Android 8.1 Oreo. The company originally said they had to skip version 8.0 due to certain issues and would release a beta version of 8.1. Now, the update is available for all Essential PH-1 users to enjoy.

In Android Oreo on the Essential Phone, users will enjoy autofill, better notification control, picture-in-picture mode, improved speed, better battery life, and UI tweaks. There are also under-the-hood improvements like patched-up security and squashed bugs. All in all, the update should be a worthy one to consider installing.
