You can now use Amazon’s Alexa voice assistant to place free video and voice calls to other Alexa users on tablets. According to Amazon’s website, by using the Alexa app on a Fire tablet, Android-powered tablet, or Apple iPad, you can place and receive video calls to and from other mobile Alexa users. This means you won’t need a physical Echo speaker to do so like before which is a huge help for those who don’t want/need to buy one.

For Fire tablet users, you can simply hold down on the home button and ask Alexa to place a video or voice call with one of your contacts. For everyone else, you’ll need to go to the Alexa app to place a call. Still, it’s worth it in the end since you no longer need an Echo speaker.
