A new analyst note from KGI Securities’ Ming-Chi Kuo (via 9to5Mac) suggests Apple may introduce a cheaper MacBook Air this year. It’s unclear how much the computer will cost or how big its screen will be, but it’ll reportedly launch during the second half of 2018.

The MacBook Air, arguably, has been dead for years at this point. Back in 2015, Apple introduced the 12-inch MacBook that provided a lighter, smaller, more compact alternative to the Air with a much better screen and build quality. Meanwhile, the MacBook Air has always stuck around the $999 price point it currently sits at with its poor-quality display and outdated design language. For a new Air, hopefully, Apple will pay attention to these aspects of the laptop and give buyers on a budget something nicer for the price they pay.

As we draw near to the second half of 2018, we expect to know more about this mysterious MacBook Air. Stay tuned.
