Samsung recently confirmed it was working on a new smart home speaker powered by its Bixby voice assistant, and now we’re hearing it’ll launch later this year after initially being rumored to do so. The company’s president of its mobile division, DJ Koh, has confirmed to The Wall Street Journal during MWC 2018 that the speaker will launch in the latter half of 2018.

While it’s still unclear what Samsung’s intentions with this speaker are, we do know they want something premium. Koh says they want to focus more on the premium aspect of things, so it looks like we could have a contender to the Apple HomePod and Google Home Max on our hands.

That being said, we still have no idea what this speaker might look like, what it’ll sound like, how much it’ll cost, or when exactly it’ll become available. All that information, of course, will surface over time and we’ll bring you the latest when we have it.
