Google today released the first security patch for its Pixel and Nexus devices for 2018. Now rolling out, the January patch arrives in two levels: 2018-01-01 and 2018-01-05. Combined, the two patches have resolved 38 issues within the Android operating system, the most serious being related to the media framework in the OS.

We’re also seeing a couple of functional updates for Pixel 2 devices, including some under-the-hood improvements for the keystore and the overall stability of the devices. There’s nothing significant here, but it was worth noting regardless since it’s the first patch of the year.

System images and OTA images can be found at their respective links, while you can also see the entire security bulletin for the January 2018 patch here. Additional Android users who own devices from OEMs like Samsung, LG, and Moto can also expect this patch at some point in the future.
