Amazon Prive Video is Finally Available for Apple TV

After a long six-month wait since its announcement, Amazon has finally released its Prive Video app for Apple TV third-generation and above. The app can be downloaded from the tvOS App Store by searching for “Amazon Prime Video” minus the quotes.

“There is nothing that excites us more than delighting our customers, and we are thrilled for them to stream Prime Video on Apple TV,” said Mark Eamer, Vice President of Prime Video. “The app arrives just in time for the highly anticipated new season of The Grand Tour, which launches on December 8th, and Prime Video members streaming on the Apple TV 4K will have the exceptional viewing experience of 4K HDR.”

Amazon notes that with the app, you’ll be able to stream the Falcons/Saints football game tomorrow night as a part of Thursday Night Football on your Apple TV. Users of the app will also have access to the following:

  • 140+ Amazon Channel subscriptions in the U.S. and 95 in the U.K., Germany and Austria
  • Amazon Original Movies and Prime Originals like The Grand Tour, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel and The Tick. The Prime Video app also launches just in time for the upcoming premieres ofJean-Claude Van Johnson on December 15 and Phillip K. Dick’s Electric Dreams on January 1.
  • Award-winning and critically-acclaimed titles including Hollywood blockbusters and TV series

Additionally, version 5.0 of the iOS Prime Video app has also been released which includes universal search for iOS devices alongside iPhone X support.

Now that Prime video can be installed on the Apple TV, it’s probably a matter of time until Amazon starts selling the Apple TV once again. The main reason why the outlet decided to stop selling the set-top-box was due to it not being capable of running Prime Video because if someone bought the box on Amazon, they’d think it could stream Prime video content and they’d be disappointed. Hopefully, this entire conflict gets resolved in the near future.

You can download Prime Video from the App Store for free here.
