The Essential Phone can now run Android Oreo. As per a developer page, Essential has released a beta version of Android 8.0 for its first smartphone which anyone can install so long as they know how to side-load an update and are comfortable running a pre-release operating system. This comes as other manufacturers begin upgrading their own devices to Oreo including the Samsung Galaxy S8 and LG V30.

As for what’s new in the first beta build of Android Oreo for Essential Phone, things remain unclear. Of course, you can expect to see all the normal Oreo features pre-loaded, but it isn’t yet known as to what changes Essential made on their side. We’ll let you know if anything worth noting is spotted.
What is known about the beta, however, is a few issues. For starters, you may experience Bluetooth issues by installing the build, while battery drainage is also likely increased due to the pre-release software. Android Auto users may also have some problems with the new software. Of course, if more bugs are spotted, let us know in the comments.
