Behold, the Google Pixel 2 XL in a Case [Update]

Browse By

Evan Blass is back at it again, leaking another smartphone that fans of Android have been looking forward to for an entire year. In a new tweet, Blass shares an image of what he claims is the Google Pixel 2 XL in a protective case. The manufacturer of said case isn’t noted.

There’s a lot to take away from this leak. Not only are we seeing the same 6-inch bezel-less display as previously suggested, but there also appears to be front-facing stereo speakers on the top and bottom. Previously, it was said only the 5-inch Pixel 2 would sport the sound system, but it looks like its larger counterpart is also getting in on the action.

Also worth noting is the new Pixel Launcher being shown. As you can see, the Google search bar is now at the bottom of the display to make it more easily accessible on taller screens with a dock of apps directly above. At the top of the screen sits a widget which seems to display upcoming calendar appointments, the date, and current weather conditions. It remains unknown if this widget is removable, but if the previous Pixel Launcher tells us anything, it isn’t.

Finally, we can see the front-facing camera on the top bezel, while the power and volume buttons sit on the right side. As a side note, the screen of the Pixel 2 XL looks to be pretty curvy in terms of its corners.

Google will unveil the Pixel 2 and 2 XL on Wednesday, October 4th alongside other products. Click here to find out exactly what.

Update: Evan Blass has tweeted out another photo of the Pixel 2 XL, this time without a case on it and looking straight at you. Nothing here is new, however we can see the size of the top and bottom bezels a bit better.
