Samsung’s Now Letting Users Disable the Bixby Button

Samsung’s infamous Bixby activation button on the side of the Galaxy S8 and Note 8 is one of the more annoying features on the devices. Not everyone uses Samsung’s new virtual assistant to perform tasks, so having a dedicated button that does nothing but activate it can become a nuisanceĀ for users if they continually unintentionally press it. Luckily, it looks like this problem is being addressed with a new software update hitting Galaxy S8 and Note 8 devices.

You still can’t remap the Bixby button, however.

According to SamMobile, this Bixby-specific update is beginning to roll out slowly to some users, but it’s definitely giving users the option of disabling the Bixby button altogether. Unfortunately, you can’t remap the button to your own custom command, but I guess you have to walk before you can run.

It’s worth noting that while some users have received the Bixby update, the toggle to turn on and off the button isn’t live just yet. Therefore, you’ll have to try your luck when you get the update. That being said, since some users are getting the change, perhaps it’ll roll out more widely in the near future. Stay tuned.
