Microsoft’s Next Surface Event is on October 31st in London

Microsoft has revealed to The Verge that its next Surface-focused keynote will take place on October 31st. The company will be hosting its annual Future Decoded event from October 31st to November 1st in London, and during that time its Surface chief, Panos Panay, will take to the stage.

Rumors have been rather quite surrounding upcoming Surface-branded devices. However, Microsoft recently said an LTE-connected Surface Pro would eventually arrive, and it looks like this could be the event where the company shows it off. The Verge‘s sources say at least one new device will emerge from this year’s event, but they didn’t specify which category it’ll fall into.

We could also see some performance enhancements for other devices. The Surface Book and Studio could adopt Intel’s new 8th-generation processors, but this is just a guess and could or couldn’t come to pass. What we’re really expecting to see from this event is new hardware powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon processors. The company detailed their partnership with the chip maker back in December and we have yet to see physical evidence of their partnership. According to a Microsoft spokesperson, it seems like this event will bring the technology to the fore front.

“We are on track to see Windows 10 on Snapdragon devices become available this year as previously shared,” says a Microsoft spokesperson. “Microsoft and Qualcomm continue to work closely with our OEM partners ASUS, HP and Lenovo in bringing Always Connected devices featuring always-on LTE connectivity and great battery life to market.”

Of course, we’ll be covering everything Microsoft announces on Halloween so stay tuned.
