Andy Rubin today announced the availability of the Essential Phone at retailers. Both Sprint and Best Buy are offering the device for pre-order, while you can now buy the device unlocked straight from Essential.com immediately.
When buying the phone from Essential, you’ll have to spend $699 which, mind you, isn’t all that bad considering what you get for the price. Add another $50, and your new phone purchase will come bundled with a 360-degree camera module that magnetically attaches to the upper right-hand corner on the back of the device. The phone is available in either Black Moon or Pure White.
As for Sprint and Best Buy customers, the former is offering the device at a 50% discount, making the device $14.58/month on the carrier’s installment plan. However, the phone is only being offered in Black Moon for at least the time being. The latter, on the other hand, has both colors available and is selling it for the normal $699 price. You can pick up either the Sprint or unlocked model for the same price. No word on when either Sprint or Best Buy will make the handset available for full-on purchase or will begin shipping it to customers.
This news comes after Essential confirmed to those who made Essential Phone reservations that their orders would being shipping in the next seven days. I wouldn’t be surprised if new buyers of the device will have the same experience. For reference, the Essential Phone has a 5.7-inch 2560×1312 bezel-less display, a Snapdragon 835 processor, 4GB of RAM, Android 7.1 Nougat, dual 13MP cameras, Bluetooth 5, and a 3040mAh battery sealed inside a ceramic and titanium body.
