Last month, Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee’s mega hit “Despacito” became the most-streamed song ever on the internet. This was thanks to mainly the song being as popular as it is and the fact that Justin Bieber landed a verse on the track for a special remix that’s been blowing up radio stations here in the US. Now, the song’s music video has become the most-viewed video to ever hit YouTube, with it having more than 3,017,338,565 views at the time of writing this article.

If you recall, last month Wiz Khalifa and Charlie Puth’s hit “See You Again” became the most-viewed video on YouTube as well, beating out Psy’s “Gangnam Style” which held the ranks for a number of years. Now, “Despacito” has defeated both songs, and mind you, it didn’t happen slowly.

January 12th is when the “Despacito” music video hit YouTube, so it’s only been roughly seven months since then. It just goes to show you how quickly something good can become great and a fan-favorite, likely for years to come. Easily, I can see this song still being remembered in ten years opposed to most of the fads that come and go each summer [hate to admit it, but “Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae)” is on that list].
