Accessories Google News Rumors

I Wouldn’t Trust These Google Pixel 2 Cases

Hey, there’s more phone cases for sale. No, they’re not for the iPhone or Samsung Galaxy. Rather, they’re now available for users of Google’s upcoming Pixel 2 and Pixel XL 2, as the company calls them.

Speaking of which, the company is known as Olixar who has released iPhone 7 and Galaxy S8 cases in the past way before they went on sale. And guess what? They got the designs spot on. The only problem I’m having with today’s news is how these leaks line up with previous rumors.

Android Police leaked this image of what they claim is the Pixel XL 2. The cases leaked today look like they’d fit that handset, but maybe not the regular Pixel 2. Why you may ask? Because renders claim the Pixel 2 will stick with chunky bezels rather going all Galaxy S8 or LG G6 on us. On the contrary, Google will save this sleeker design for the larger second-generation Pixel and make the Pixel 2 look a lot like the original model. This isn’t displayed in these case renders, as both the Pixel 2 and XL 2 look nearly identical. Therefore, I’m not sure how legit these cases are.

Forbes‘ Gordon Kelly, who first wrote about these cases, seems pretty confident these accessories will indeed fit Google’s next phones. But when compared to other rumors surrounding the handsets, these leaks simply don’t line up. Of course, we’re still two months away from actually seeing the new Pixels so anything could happen, but for now, I wouldn’t place any bets on these guys.
