OnePlus is Rolling Out a Fix for 911 Calls on the OnePlus 5

Just a couple of days ago, users discovered that trying to call 911 or 999 in the US or UK for emergency services on the OnePlus 5 would result in the device forcefully rebooting itself for no apparent reason. While we still don’t have an exact reason for why the problem was present in the first place, we do know OnePlus has acknowledged the problem and has issued an OTA update that will fix the bug.

As noted over on OnePlus’ forums, a hot fix in the form of OxygenOS 4.5.6 patches the bug and will allow for users to contact emergency services like they could with any other phone. All users are being advised to update their devices by going to Settings > System Updates.

Hi all,
We are pushing out OxygenOS 4.5.6 hot fix OTA for OnePlus 5, please be advised to upgrade to this build as quickly as possible.

Change log:
·Fixed reboot caused by dialing 911 on certain OnePlus 5 units

As always, this OTA will be incremental. The OTA will reach a small percentage of users today, and we’ll begin a broader rollout as soon as we can.

Never Settle.

While not everyone was affected by this issue, it’s always better to be safe than sorry and just update, even if you have a thing against updating your phone.
