According to various reports across Reddit, users of the new OnePlus 5 are unable to dial 9-1-1 or 9-9-9 in the UK without their devices crashing and rebooting. This seems to be a limited issue so far, but when you can’t contact emergency services, it’s always a big deal.

One of the first to report this issue was Nick Morrelli who attempted to call 9-1-1 when a building a few blocks away caught fire. He tried dialing 9-1-1, and before the operator could answer, he noticed his phone had rebooted itself. He replicated the issue in the below video.

According to statements given to both The Next Web and The Verge, OnePlus is currently seeking a solution to this problem.

We have contacted the customer and are currently looking into the issue. We ask anyone experiencing a similar situation to contact us at

It remains unclear as to what exactly is causing this problem. Of course, a software update or server-side solution could be the antidote in this case, but until we hear confirmation, it’s a bit risky to make any assumptions.
