This Battery Case is Essentially a Moto Mod for the iPhone

A new battery pack recently surpassed its Indiegogo goal of $10,000. The product, called the POP case, comes from Shenzhen-based Colorii Tech and essentially gives you a Moto Mod for your iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, 7, or 7 Plus.

Let me explain.

The POP case consists of a super-slim case for your iPhone and either a 2,000mAh or 3,000mAh battery. The battery snaps to the back of the case via magnets and connects over a custom Lightning port to provide, what Colorii calls, double the battery life of your device. It also doesn’t add much thickness, unlike most battery cases, with the battery being a slim 5.5-mm thin and the case adding a mere 0.9-mm.

Colorii says up to forty hours of additional use out of your handset will be provided by their case which would come in handy for those who, say, have a smaller iPhone or like to use their phones all day, every day. Charging the case won’t be a hassle as simply plugging a Lightning cable into the case with charge both the battery and your phone at the same time, while multiple colors are available for users to mix and match. (If you want something really stealthy, I’d opt for the all-black look.)

All in all, this is a unique approach at a battery pack. It’s very similar to what Moto is doing with Moto Mods since the battery on the POP is detacheable via magnets, and while it may not charge that way, it follows the same principal in being a convenient way to give your phone a recharge on the fly. We’re expecting to receive a unit of the accessory soon so stay tuned.

Right now, the POP case for the iPhone 6, 6s, and 7 will cost you $29 which is seriously inexpensive. The model for the 6 Plus, 6s Plus, and 7 Plus costs six dollars more at $35. Packs of two or more start at $36. What’s more, Colorii will give you two batteries in the box rather just one, so you can have a spare battery in your bag if your first one loses charge too soon.

You can check out the POP case over on Indiegogo. Colorii says they’ll start shipping the first units next week.
