Samsung Adds Chromecast Support to Gear VR

Samsung and Oculus have updated their Gear VR platform to support casting content to a Google Chromecast. This way, your friends can see what you’re viewing in a VR experience right on your TV. You’ll need to update the Oculus app on your Android Nougat-enabled device in order to do so, then hit the Cast button to instantly cast your content to the big screen.

Before, this type of viewing experience required a tethered headset like an Oculus Rift or PlayStation VR, but now it’s possible completely wirelessly.

Mind you, Google is also adding support for casting VR experiences to their Daydream platform in an update scheduled for release later this year. For now, I guess, Samsung has an advantage.
