Instagram Adds Proper Link and Photo Sharing to Direct Messages

Instagram today introduced a minor but notable upgrade to their Direct messaging service built into their mobile app. As per their blog post, the social platform now lets users share photos and videos and have them appear properly in one’s message thread. Before, they were oddly cropped and unidentifiable at first glance as to whether they were in portrait or landscape, so this change is much appreciated.

You can now also share links inside Direct. Apparently, this feature was previously left out but has just now reached the platform. Hey, at least it’s here nevertheless.

Instagram says more changes and additions to Direct will be coming this year so stay tuned. Link sharing is now present for iOS and Android users of Instagram version 10.22, while those on iOS currently have proper content formatting in message threads. Android users will have to wait a little while before this change reaches them.
