Latest Insider Preview Brings the People Bar Back to Windows 10

Build 16184 of Windows 10 is now rolling out to Fast Ring Insiders everywhere, and with it comes a welcome addition: the People bar. Initially, Microsoft planned to include this feature in the Creators Update but ultimately scrapped it before the update could finalize.

The People bar sits atop the taskbar in Windows 10 and allows you to pin your favorite contacts to it. You can also simply drag and drop a document, picture, or website link to a contact’s picture and the data is instantly shared with them. You’ll then get to choose which service to share with, whether it be the Mail app or something like Skype or Slack. All of this follows Microsoft’s efforts to make Windows 10 as productive as they can.

Speaking of the Mail app, also new in Windows 10 is a new Focused inbox view for Gmail users. Previously, this feature was released exclusively to those who use Outlook email addresses in the Mail app, but now those using Google’s service can get the same experience.

There’s also a full list of fixes found in the latest Insider preview of Windows 10 which you can view here.

We expect even more significant updates to come by the end of the year with Redstone 3, the next major update to Windows 10 which will likely be previewed at Build 2017 in May. Stay tuned.
