Moto is set to refresh its entire Z smartphone series this year, and we’ve already had a pretty nice look at the upcoming Z2 Force. Now, TechnoBuffalo has obtained an image of what they say is the upcoming Moto Z2 Play, the cheapest of the three upcoming Z2 handsets that’ll likely feature killer battery life if it’s predecessor is any indication.
As you can see, the Z2 Play seems to take some design cues from the new Moto G5 Plus with the different gold accents around the border and the rounded fingerprint scanner. It also looks like this phone is getting a lot thinner this time around but at the expense of a more intrusive camera bump. Luckily, Moto Mods will cover this flaw up.
TechnoBuffalo wasn’t given any specs, but we can expect to see mid-range internals in the Z2 Play regardless. Last year’s Z Play had a Snapdragon 625 processor, a 5.5-inch 1080p display, 3GB of RAM, a 16MP camera, and a massive 3,510mAh battery. Hopefully, we see an upgrade in each of these departments this year.
The report goes on to note that the date displayed in the image happens to be June 8th, a Thursday. This may be the day we see the Z2 Play debut, but keep in mind last year’s Z Play didn’t arrive until August. Therefore, I wouldn’t place any bets on this space on the calendar just yet.
