Marvel today released the first teaser trailer for the upcoming film Thor: Ragnarok, and yes, it’s good. The movie, directed by Taika Waititi and starring Chris Hemsworth as the title character, follows Thor as he’s “imprisoned on the other side of the universe” and is forced into a gladiatorial battle. The only problem is, that battle is with his “friend from work” Hulk who is portrayed by Mark Ruffalo. This then leads to the hero stuck “in a race against time to prevent the all-powerful Hela (Cate Blanchett) from destroying his home world and the Asgardian civilization.” The plot sounds just a strange as it is watching this first clip, but I guess you really have to be into Thor to understand this (which, mind you, I’m not).

Ragnarok will be more light-hearted when compared to other Thor films. This factor gives itself away when you notice the 80s nostalgia found throughout the clip and Hemsworth’s humor in the end. This is by no means a bad thing since funny superhero movies seem to do pretty well, so I think this third film should perform just as well as the previous two if not better. Especially if more Avengers make appearances (I’m looking at you, Spider-Man).

Also starring in the movie is Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Anthony Hopkins as Odin, and Benedict Cumberbatch who returns as Doctor Strange. Thor: Ragnarok opens in theaters on November 3rd, 2017.
