We just saw Samsung’s official unveiling of the handsets yesterday, and now interested customers can begin preordering the Galaxy S8 and S8+ from a variety of retailers. Specifically, only carriers have the devices available to preorder, but that shouldn’t stop you from picking one up anyway.
Why? Because perks. Basically everyone is offering a free Gear VR with Controller, while others advertise a $99 “Experience Box” which includes the headset, Harmon AKG-tuned earbuds, and a 256GB microSD card. These are pretty sweet deals, so for the money you have to fork over for either the S8 or S8+, you should get something for free.
What are those prices, you ask? You can see them all layed out here, but the S8 starts at $720 at full retail value while the S8+ goes for at least $840. That said, starting May 9th, you’ll be able to preorder both handsets from Best Buy unlocked for $724.99 and $824.99, respectively. In other words, for just $5 more, you can get a phone that’ll work on nearly any carrier and still save some cash when compared to other retail outlets. Unless you absolutely need a Gear VR headset, I say wait for this offering to go live.
The Galaxy S8 and S8+ feature 5.8-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED Infinity Displays, Snapdragon 835 processors, 4GB of RAM, 64GB of expandable storage, 12MP cameras, Android Nougat, iris scanners, and Bixby.
