There’s a reason a majority of the world is scared of clowns. It could be that red paint around their mouths, the fact that they color their faces white, or all of those squeaky noises give you the chills. Whatever it may be, you probably have Pennywise to thank for the most part.

Speaking of Pennywise, the first trailer for the film adoption remake of Stephen King’s It has been released, and for some reason, I can’t take it seriously. I have no problem with clowns, and just picturing one being as evil as Pennywise makes me kind of laugh. It’d be like saying, “Oh god, that bunny is possessed! I’m so scared!” if you’re actually frightened by this trailer. Sure, the clip has its creepy factor and all (for instance, I was waiting for Pennywise to jump out of the sewer drain or grab Georgie’s face), but I just don’t see what’s so scary about a clown.

I dunno, you probably feel different. And mind you, I have plenty of respect for those who are scared of clowns. I just don’t get the big deal.

Sorry, Mr. King.

It, starring Bill Skarsgård as the title character, Jaeden Lieberher, and Stranger Things’ Finn Wolfhard, hits theaters September 8th, 2017.
