Confirmed: Andy Rubin’s Upcoming Smartphone Will Run Android

We recently got a sneak peek at Andy Rubin’s upcoming Essential-branded smartphone’s bezel-less design. While it was pretty clear that the device would run the operating system, we are now hearing confirmation via Google’s Eric Schmidt that this new handset will indeed run Android. You know, as if it weren’t immediately clear.

Obviously, Schmidt doesn’t blatantly says the new device will run Android, but he puts it in the category leading competitors like the Galaxy S8, Pixel, and LG G6 fall into. Therefore, it’s gonna be an uphill battle for Rubin and the rest of Essential as they attempt to compete in this crazy market.
