Apple’s macOS Sierra 10.12.4 Update Brings Night Shift to the Mac

Apple today is rolling out macOS Sierra 10.12.4, a software update for the Mac that brings Night Shift to the company’s line of desktop and laptop computers. It works via a flick of a switch to allow the blue light radiating from your screen to filter out, therefore causing your eyes to relax more and strain less. This function is ideal for low-light environments such as your bed before going to sleep at night.

Apple also brings dictation support for Shanghainese, cricket scores via Siri from the Indian Premier League and International Cricket Council, and updates the PDFKit APIs for improved viewing of PDFs in apps that utilize the platforms with the 10.12.4 update.

To install macOS Sierra 10.12.4 on your Mac, head over to the “Updates” tab in the App Store and check for updates. There, you’ll find the new update ready to install. Just click the “Update” button next to the macOS Sierra 10.12.4 listing and restart your Mac. The process may take a little while, so be patient and don’t turn off your Mac manually if you don’t have to.
