Apple Releases watchOS 3.2 with Theater Mode and SiriKit

Apple today began rolling out watchOS 3.2 to all Apple Watch owners. The update carries features originally found in the betas of the software update which should prove pretty useful.

Specifically, watchOS 3.2 will grant users of the Apple Watch with a new Theater Mode, disabling the raise-to-wake functionality and silencing notifications, a feature likely helpful while at the movies or in the audience of a play. Here’s how Apple describes it.

Introduced in watchOS 3.1.3, Theater Mode lets users quickly mute the sound on their Apple Watch and avoid waking the screen on wrist raise. Users still receive notifications (including haptics) while in Theater Mode, which they can view by tapping the screen or pressing the Digital Crown.

SiriKit is now also available for use with watchOS, a tool that allows developers to integrate third-party services with Apple’s voice assistant. Things like requesting an Uber or paying for something over PayPal will soon be possible thanks to this new integration.

In addition, bug fixes and security enhancements have been placed under the hood.

To install watchOS 3.2 on your Apple Watch, navigate to the Watch app on your paired iPhone and tap the “My Watch” tab. From there, go to General > Software Update and you should see the update ready for download. Be sure to place your iPhone on Wi-Fi while downloading this software as it’ll surely gobble up plenty of your data.
